Status: Deceased Florence Kolb (Smith)	Date of passing: 5 Jun 2010 About our Alumni: Florence grew up in Des Plaines and was a resident of Mount Prospect for over 50 years. Her professional career spanned more than 40 years as a nurse and nursing instructor. She graduated from Evanston Hospital School of Nursing and Columbia University, and obtained a master's degree in nursing from Northern Illinois University in 1978. She continued her professional career until she retired in 1988. A longtime member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, Florence was involved in the church's PADS homeless shelter program, Altar Committee and other activities. She was active in many social clubs including Mount Prospect Nurses Club, Mount Prospect Garden Club and Mount Prospect Women's Club. Florence loved people and truly believed in caring for others. She was the beloved wife for 49 years of the late Robert Smith; loving mother of Catherine (Richard) Coyle, Nancy (the late Timothy) Morrison, Steven Smith and Eve Smith; cherished grandmother of Emily and Natalie; devoted daughter of the late Elsie (nee Seegers) and the late Paul E. Kolb; and dear sister of Lucille (the late Norman) Sonderman and the late Carl (Arden Kolb-DeBolt) and the late Robert (Patricia) Kolb.
